Hierarchical dimensional crossover of an optically-trapped quantum gas with disorder

چکیده

Abstract Dimensionality serves as an indispensable ingredient in any attempt to formulate low-dimensional physics, and studying the dimensional crossover at a fundamental level is challenging. The purpose of this work study hierarchical crossovers, namely from three dimensions (3D) quasi-2D then 1D. Our system consists 3D Bose–Einstein condensate trapped anisotropic 2D optical lattice characterized by depths V 1 along x direction 2 y direction, respectively, where controlled via . We analytically derive ground-state energy, quantum depletion superfluid density system. results demonstrate 3D-quasi-2D-1D crossovers behavior fluctuations. Conditions for possible experimental realization our scenario are also discussed.

Quantum memory with optically trapped atoms.

We report the experimental demonstration of quantum memory for collective atomic states in a far-detuned optical dipole trap. Generation of the collective atomic state is heralded by the detection of a Raman scattered photon and accompanied by storage in the ensemble of atoms. The optical dipole trap provides confinement for the atoms during the quantum storage while retaining the atomic cohere...

Atom-molecule collisions in an optically trapped gas.

Cold inelastic collisions between confined cesium (Cs) atoms and Cs2 molecules are investigated inside a CO2 laser dipole trap. Inelastic atom-molecule collisions can be observed and measured with a rate coefficient of approximately 2.6 x 10(-11) cm3 s(-1), mainly independent of the molecular rovibrational state populated. Lifetimes of purely atomic and molecular samples are essentially limited...

An optically trapped mirror for reaching the standard quantum limit

The preparation of a mechanical oscillator driven by quantum back-action is a fundamental requirement to reach the standard quantum limit (SQL) for force measurement, in optomechanical systems. However, thermal fluctuating force generally dominates a disturbance on the oscillator. In the macroscopic scale, an optical linear cavity including a suspended mirror has been used for the weak force me...

Pure gas of optically trapped molecules created from fermionic atoms.

We report on the production of a pure sample of up to 3 x 10(5) optically trapped molecules from a Fermi gas of 6Li atoms. The dimers are formed by three-body recombination near a Feshbach resonance. For purification, a Stern-Gerlach selection technique is used that efficiently removes all trapped atoms from the atom-molecule mixture. The behavior of the purified molecular sample shows a striki...

Irreversibility to Reversibility Crossover in Transient Response of an Optically Trapped Particle

We study the transient response of a colloidal bead which is released from different heights and allowed to relax in the potential well of an optical trap. Depending on the initial potential energy, the system’s time evolution shows dramatically different behaviors. Starting from the short-time reversible to long-time irreversible transition, a stationary reversible state with zero net dissipat...
